Meet the A Dash of Dana Nutrition Team

Dana

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and have been in the nutrition world, professionally, for 5 years.

Nutrition has a special place in my heart and has impacted me on a personal level as a female athlete. From a young age, I committed to understanding the power of nutrition on health, longevity, and performance.

A little about my academic background...because you do want to be sure you are receiving your information from qualified resources in this field! I received my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics with minors in gerontology and sports nutrition from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2015. I completed my national board exam to become a RD/RDN in 2016. During my time as a clinical dietitian, I went on to get my Masters of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance from Logan University in 2019.

As of August 2022, I received my level 1 certification as metabolic efficiency training specialist (METS I). Metabolic efficiency is a process of improving the body's ability to utilize energy stores more efficiently through nutrition and exercise. You can learn more about this here.

In December 2022, I passed my board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD). This expanded my knowledge in working with athletes, so I can provide up to date, evidence - based practice to my athletes!

In my free time, I love spending time with my fiance and biggest life supporter, Corey, and our dog, Nala. I am a runner at heart and recently took up triathlon, which I have developed a deep passion for. I also enjoy resistance/ weight training, cooking, hiking, and being on the water in any form (kayak, paddle board, boat, swimming).

My philosophy in nutrition goes far beyond the food you put into your body. Together, we want to understand how food affects you, how it makes you feel, and what it does for you. Nutrition is all about supporting the complex systems that make up your body and listening to what your body needs so you can take on all that you ask your body to achieve.

Fuel Fiercely!

Hello! I am Dana Eshelman, MS, RDN, CSSD, METS I and Owner of A Dash of Dana

Hello! I am Jane Maus, the associate dietitian at A Dash of Dana.

For as long as I can remember, food and nutrition has played a huge role in my life. I have always been fascinated by the power food can have on our well-being and overall health but also on our athletic performance. Although I am relatively new to the professional side of this field, nutrition has impacted me deeply on a personal level from healing my disordered relationship with food to learning how to properly fuel as a high-level athlete.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition from the University of Utah in 2018. After a few job shifts and some soul searching, I was called to the path of becoming a registered dietitian. I recently finished my Master of Science in Community Medical Dietetics from Viterbo University and completed my board certification exam in July 2023 to officially become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).

In addition to my passion for nutrition, I am an avid trail and ultra runner, enthusiastic rock climber, and lifelong athlete. Through my participation in both endurance and strength-based sports, I have heightened my knowledge of sports nutrition and healed my relationship with food. Surrounding myself with fellow athletes, I have witnessed firsthand the prevalence of under fueling, disordered eating, and false messaging that seems to run rampant in this space. There is a lot of work to be done here, and I am on a mission to educate on proper fueling practices, be an ally for behavior change, and debunk those
myths.

Everyone is a unique individual with differing physiology, preferences, and needs. When it comes to nutrition, there is no “one size fits all” approach. My goal as a dietitian is to help you feel confident in your fueling patterns, to trust your body, and to support your performance and overall wellbeing to be the version of yourself you are the most proud of. I want to help you meet your basic needs, optimize your performance, AND have energy to go on with your day as a human.

I am thrilled to be working as a dietitian with A Dash of Dana!
